Workshop on NoSQL Databases[25-26 May 2017]

Every day large amounts of complex data is enerated very rapidly by organizations, people, devices, and social interactions. Much of the data is used by machines and people for quick and complex decision making. NoSQL databases are ideally suited for use in these big data and real time applications, because they are more scalable and perform better than relational databases, particularly when working with large volumes of rapidly changing data. This two day workshop at the Dept. of CSE, CUET covered the principles and practices of NoSQL database systems and, through lectures and hands on exercises. As a resource person Nazibul Hossain Tawhid, Engineer at SSD-TECH was present. 75 students were participate in this 2 days long workshop. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, Head, CSE was present in closing and certificate giving ceremony.

Seminar on ICT and Importance of Programming Contests[17 May 2017]

A seminar on ICT and Importance of programming contests held at CSE, CUET. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Prof Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, "There is no alternative to improving the IT sector in the development of advanced Bangladesh. In the up coming days, the IT sector will be one of the leading foreign exchange earners for our country. The government has been working to achieve the goal of achieving $5 billion by 2021 from this sector. The young generation will have to play the role". Professor Dr. M. Kaykobad, Dean Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) presented the keynote paper on the seminar as a resource person. Professor Dr. M. Kaikobad said, "CUET's CSE department has always been good in programming competition. This is possible because the students are very interested in IT. Referring to human imagination more powerful and effective than knowledge, he said that students should be mindful of creative thinking as well as textbooks". Among others, the Dean of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Professor Dr. Kaushik Deb, Head of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, Professor Dr. Md. Ibrahim Khan were also present.

National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) 2017[09-10 March 2017]

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) organized the largest national level computer programming contest. The prize giving ceremony was held in IEB Chittagong center, while the event was taken place at CUET premises. The inauguration ceremony was held with Chittagong city mayor AJM Nasir in the chair. The two-day National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) was held with 150 teams from 63 public and private universities which were primarily selected from around thousand teams in an online selection process. Team Rayo from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, PYRO from CUET and JU_MSM from Jahangirnagar University achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

National High School Programming Contest (NHSPC-2017)[18 March 2017]

National High School Programming Contest (NHSPC-2017) will be held on March 18, 2017 at CUET. This program is hosted by Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) in association with ICT Division and BDOSN.

Workshop on "Development of Programming Skills"[16-17 December 2016]

CSE Department organized a two-day workshop on "Development of Programming Skills" hold on 16-17 December.The workshop was held at operating system in a lab from 9am to 6pm. World finalist Mr. Abdullah Al Maruf and Mr. Jubair Hasan are present there as speaker of the program. At the end of the workshop Prof. Dr. Mohammed Moshiul Hoque, Head of CSE distributed certificates to the participants and handed over commemorative greetings to the speaker. At this time Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Head of the Department of Humanities was also present.

Campus Recruitment 2016[27 October 2016]

Huawei Technologies(BD) Limited open an opportunity for fresh graduates to explore their carrier in telecom horizon. In this regard 27th October Huawei Technologies(BD) Limited arranged a Campus Recruitment program for fresh graduate students.All the student's of 11 batch participated in the recruitment program.

Inauguration of Networking & Communication Lab[10 April 2016]

Dept. of CSE is going to launch a new Networking and Communication Lab on April 10, 2016. The honorable State Minister Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, ICT Division gives his kind contest to inaugurate this lab as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Honorable Vice Chancellor, CUET and Prof. Dr. Mohmmad Rafiqul Alam, honorable Pro Vice Chancellor also present as the special guest and guest of honor respectively in this event. Mr. Md. Ashraful Islam, Executive Director, Bangladesh Computer Council, Mr. Rezaul Karim, NDC, Project Director, Leveraging ICT Project and Mr. Md. Saiful Islam, Project Director, Infor-Sarkar Project also present as the invited guests. In addition to the inauguration program, 100 Laptops will be distributed among the meritorious students of CUET supported by Exim Bank Ltd. in association with ICT division.

National High School Programming Contest (NHSPC 2016) [18 March 2016]

National High School Programming Contest (NHSPC 2016) was held on March 18, CUET. More than 1200 school and college going students were participate in this event. Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, honorable Vice-chancellor, CUET was present as the chief guest in this event. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, the honorable Pro-vice chancellor, CUET, and Renowned Writer Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, were also present as the Special guests. Moreover, Md. Munir Hasan (General Secreray, Math Olympiad, President, BDOSN), Dr. Yasmeen Haque (Professor, Dept of Physics, SUST), Abul Mansur Mohammad Sharfudin (Controller of Certifying Authority, Ministry of ICT), Debomoy Dewan (ADC, Education & ICT) and Dr. Nova Ahmed (Associate Professor, NSU) were present as the guests of honor in this event.

International Forum on Strategic Technology (IFOST) [October (21-23), 2014]

9th International Forum on Strategic Technology (IFOST) was held at the world's longest sandy sea beach, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh on October (21-23), 2014. The main theme of the IFOST-2014 was 'Advanced Technology: Recent Trends and Their Implications'. It covers six broad knowledge domains and their applications. It includes Information & Communication Technology, Power Engineering & Renewable Energy, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning & Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering & Technology, Mining & Petroliam Engineering, Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology and Applied Sciences. The conference receives six hundred and ninety three research papers among them one hundred and seventy seven papers are accepted for oral, and one hundred and twenty one papers for poster presentation.
